CHANDIGARH: Despite several complaints by residents Sector 19, the UT police failed to reach the spot where as many as 10 drunken youth were creating nuisance.
Preetpal Singh, a resident of Sector 19, said he was sleeping when he suddenly heard some youth creating nuisance near his house at 2am on Sunday morning.
“The inconsiderate drunkards were screaming at the top of their voice, playing loud music and dancing with beer bottles in hands near their car parked on the dividing road of Sector 18 and 19,” Preetpal said.
“Some of them were dancing on the roof and bonnets of their car. Initially, we ignored them and thought that they would go away. But when they continued with their nuisance, I was forced to call police,” he added.
Preetpal said after waiting for nearly 20 minutes, he again lodged a complaint at 100. “Till now, others in the vicinity too got disturbed. Seeing that no PCR van reached the spot, other residents too called the police. But no official showed up,” he said.
He said that the residents then decided to search if any PCR vehicle could be found nearby. “As many as three PCR vehicles were found parked in the area, but none of the police officials reached the spot to end the nuisance,” the residents. After one hour, when the youth eventually left the place, around 20 empty beer bottles were found scattered on the road.
