Students are shocked and anguished over the reconduct of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII economics and Class X mathematics papers, as both had been easier.
Though the board is yet to decide the next date of the examinations, it said the exams were being conducted to uphold the sanctity of board examinations as there were complaints of papers being leaked.
“I am very disappointed as I am not so good at mathematics and on Wednesday, I actually heaved a sigh of relief and kept my books aside, but now this news came. It is actually unbelievable,” said Yashwardhan, a student of Class X of Guukul Global School, IT Park, Chandigarh.
“It is disheartening and annoying. It is unacceptable. Why should we students be made to pay the price for CBSE’s inefficiency?” said Rudra of Class X of Gurukul Global School.
Parul Verma, a Class X student of DAV Public School, Sector 15, said: “I had done well in Wednesday’s paper as I had worked hard. It was the last exam. Nobody wants to take the exams again after these get over.”
Gaurav Bhainsora, a student of Class X, Bhavan Vidyalaya, Chandigarh, said: “It was not the fault of students. Then why should we suffer. In the past also, there were rumours that a particular paper was leaked but the CBSE strongly stood by students who worked hard in the exam. We had planned to go out with the family. The reconduct of the exam will disturb our schedule.”
Aishvarya Thakur of Class XII of DAV Public School said: “I am feeling bad. It is a sad news. The CBSE should do a rethink. We are going to take competitive exams. The reconduct of economics paper would disturb our schedule.”
Shaurya Sharma of Class XII, DAV Public School, said the economics paper was easier.
“I am feeling bad. It is sad when it happens that you have worked hard but you have to retake the exam because of the fault of others.”
Meanwhile, after being aware of the turn of events, Class X students on Wednesday at the exam centre at Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 16, said this year mathematics paper was easier and a number of them claimed that they would score above 70.
“It was an easy paper. I will score 79 out of 80. I have just messed up one mark. It was not a lengthy paper,” said Anushka Bansal, a Class X student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, Chandigarh. Maanya Arora of Vivek High School and Rahul Kanwal and
Lakshya Badoni of St Anne’s High School, Sector 32, claimed that they would score above 70 in mathematics.
