Chandigarh International Airport to be Closed on Sunday
On account of the runway upgrading, a number of flights from Chandigarh International Airport have come down in count from 37 to 27. Starting today on 3rd October the upgrading of the runway is all set to proceed until 31st March 2018. As per the repairs going on, the runway of Chandigarh airport will remain closed from 4:00 PM to 5:00 AM and no flights will be there for that duration of time.
New Flight Schedule Enforced To Chandigarh International Airport
In regards to the repairs going on the runway of Chandigarh International Airport, the new flight schedule is enforced between the time duration of 5:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The Airport will remain closed on Sundays and the new flight schedule will remain in force until 28th October 2017. After 28th October, the Winter schedule for the flights will be released for the Chandigarh International Airport.
The CAT II Landing instrument will also be added to improve the landing assistance and visibility. The following repairs are estimated to complete in approximate 20 months with an expected cost of Rs. 460 Crore. Because of the implementation of the new watch hours, many airlines have cut short their operations. Following are the details of the new flight details –
Jet Airways – 7 flights instead of 10 Flights
SpiceJet – 4 instead of 7 Flights [ Flights to Jaipur, Delhi, and Hyderabad currently canceled, No Change in the morning [ 8:30 AM – 8:40 AM ] flights to Jammu and Delhi although the flight to Srinagar is preponed to 12:15 PM instead of 12:35 PM and flight for Delhi is rescheduled at 3:35 PM. ]
Indigo – 7 Flights instead of 10 Flights [ Cancelled Flights include flights to Srinagar, Bengaluru and Mumbai and No change in Schedule of Indigo Flights to Dubai]
