Emerge overall winners by scoring 26 points; GGDSD-32 finish second, SGGS-26 third
DAV College, Sector-10, boys won the Panjab University inter-college wrestling (freestyle) championship held at Panjab University gymnasium hall. The DAV boys scored 26 points to become overall champions. GGD SD College, Sector 32, finished second with 18 points while Sri Guru Gobind Singh College (SGGS), Sector 26, finished third with 14 points. BKS College, Muhar, boys finished fourth with nine points.
In the individual category, Ankit Kumar of Post Graduate Government College, Sector 11, won the gold medal in the 57kg category. Aman Kumar of BKS College claimed the silver while Rehman of Arya College, Ludhiana, and Sudhir from SGGS College claimed the bronze medal. In the 61kg category, Sumit of SD College won the title after defeating Mohmmad Younes of Government College, Hoshiarpur. Suroon Hader of DAV College and Manpreet of AS College, Khanna, claimed the joint third position. Krishan Kant of DAV College won the 65kg weight category title after overpowering Krishan Kaniya of SGGS College. Akashdeep of BKS College and Abhishek of GN College, Abohar, won the bronze medal.
In the 70kg weight category, Jatin of DAV College won the gold medal while Yadvinder of SGGS College won the silver medal. Ali of BKS College and Ashish Sharma of DAV College, Hoshiarpur, finished joint third.
Parteek of DAV College won the 74kg event by defeating Lovepreet of BKS College. Puran of LLR College, Dhudika, and Harinder Singh of Khalsa College, Abohar, claimed the joint third position. In the 79kg category, Aditya Kumar of SD College won the gold after defeating Vikas Beniwal of DAV College. Lovepreet Singh of LNK College, Abohar, and Amandeep PUCC, Guruharsahai, finished third.
In the 86kg category, Sandeep of Malwa College, Bondli, defeated Rakesh of SD College to win the gold medal. Baljeet Singh of DAV College, Hoshiarpur, and Hemant of SGGS College claimed the third position. In 92kg category, Vishal Malik of DAV College claimed the first position followed by Jagjit Singh of PUCC, Guruharsahai. Kanishak of SCD Government College,
Ludhiana, and Inderjeet Singh of Arya College claimed the third position. In the 97kg category, Ankit of SD College defeated Harkirat of GP College, Alour, to claim the top spot while Surinder of Malwa College, Bondli, and Harmanjeet Singh of Khalsa College, Ludhiana, finished third. In 96kg category, Ashish of SGGS College defeated Sadam Hussain of Government College, Hoshiarpur, to win the gold medal. Danish of DAV College and Harjaspreet of GN College, Narangwal, finished joint second.
