The city today witnessed ‘Chandigarh Fun Parade’, a fun family carnival walk, with the Mascot – “MOGO”, which was also launched as a part of the Chandigarh Establishment Day celebrations to be held from November 1 to 5. The walk was flagged off by Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Finance Secretary, Chandigarh Administration.
The residents gathered at Leisure Valley, Sector 10, and walked towards Madhya Marg crossing Sectors 9 and 8 and reaching back to the assembly point.
The song for Chandigarh Establishment Day was also played and enthralled the crowd. The other attractions for the kids included the long man, cycle and the clowns which added colour to the celebrations. Prizes were also given away to categories like ‘Biggest Group’, ‘Biggest Female Group’, ‘Biggest Family’ etc. to encourage the participants.
Chandigarh Establishment Day
The day will be acknowledged this year with a five-day-long festive celebrations to commemorate 51 glorious years of Chandigarh’s foundation as an independent Union Territory (UT) and the capital of both Punjab and Haryana on November 1, 1966. Artistes like Gurdas Maan, Nooran Sisters and Gippy Grewal will entertain the audience.
A fashion lifestyle expo, food festival and the best food court in the town will be the added attractions.
