CHANDIGARH: Keeping its focus on getting good ranking in the upcoming Swachh Sarvekshan, the municipal corporation here on Monday came up with a new idea. The civic body has decided that commuters using the parking lots of the MC can access free parking by showing the Swachhata MoHUA app in their mobile phones. The scheme will start from December 27 and will continue till New Year Eve.
Significantly, since public participation in uploading Swachhata MoHUA app is one of the significant feature to get good ranking, the MC is trying to enrol maximum residents in this segment to score good marks in the Swachh Sarvekshan.
The abovesaid decision has been taken in a meeting of the Swachh Bharat Mission, which was held under the supervision of municipal commissioner-cum-mission director, Swachh Bharat Mission, Jitender Yadav on Monday. On the occasion, Yadav said that the MC had decided to give a gift to the residents of Chandigarh on New Year Eve by allowing them free access to parking sites of the MC by showing Swachhata MoHUA app on their mobile phones.
The commissioner said that the citizens can collect free parking coupons to access free parking throughout city from MC kiosks, which will be set up at the entry point of every parking site throughout the city.
The meeting was attended by additional municipal commissioner Saurabh Mishra, medical officer of health Dr P S Bhatti and other officers concerned of the Swachh Bharat team, MC, and Sunil Badlani, director, Arya Toll Infra Ltd., the firm which is managing all parking sites of the MCC throughout the city.
